Our Last Kid-Free Weekend

We're going to play loud rock and roll music, and ride roller coasters for which you must be at least THIS TALL, and reorganize Todd's knives! We'll play board games with small, swallowable pieces! We'll watch TV series from HBO and eat candy for every meal and sleep with the door to the balcony open! It will be wild and crazy and not child oriented at all!
Except, so far, we've cleaned our house, had a lovely dinner date at Market Street, and today we're probably going to watch the Muppets new movie, followed by a Hunger Games and Pancake date with Nate and CC. I guess we're ready to be parents, we seem to have put our party days away ages ago :)
Clara woke me up this morning with some rolling around in my belly, she's ready too.
Just a few more days until we can pinch her fat little legs and squeeze her cheeks (all 4 of them)!

A Letter to My Baby

Dear Clara-
Just 13 days now. 13 days until you arrive and bring your sweet heart in to our family. 13 days for Dad and I to grow up and prepare and get our game face on. We're excited and we're scared and Dad is so tired of me crying all the time! And secretly, he can't wait until I start getting up and refilling my water myself.
Every time I get in the bathtub, you and I have so much fun! You roll around and wiggle so much, if I didn't bathe naked, I would film it for you to see some day.  I am so grateful for this time you and I have together, and I feel a tiny bit smug that you usually stop your wiggling as soon as I yell for Dad to come see. It's like you do it just for me, and I think that's fair. For the next few months, and probably even years, you and Dad will get so much one on one time while I'm at work. You will have your fun times and your activities and your secrets and your conspiracies...I'm glad you and I get this time now.
I am told that you will be the center of our universe when you come, but that is old news. I hear we'll be exhausted for months, but who isn't? They say to cherish the time as it goes by too fast, but of course we know all about that, judging by the last 36 weeks. The one thing that no one will ever be able to tell us is how we got so lucky as to have YOU and all the exciting, scary, unknown, wonderful adventures you will bring.
We love you more than any other parent has ever loved a kid, I'm certain of it, there's no way to top this amount of love...
XO
Mom and Dad

To Do:

We've been on radio silence for a few weeks, just laying low while we wait for the big day. We've done our research, asked our questions, cried and celebrated and emotionally exhausted every synapse in our bodies. And now, we wait. Two weeks from today, this most anticipated wonder is coming, and we're as ready as we can be. Except for all the things on my to do list, of course. I'm posting it here so you can all sign up for a task or two ;) and so I can remember it all...
  • Finish all of our laundry
  • Pack hospital bag
  • Buy breast pump and bags or whatever parts you need for those things
  • Clean cars
  • Watch the last 2 episodes of Downton Abbey
  • Get a pedicure
  • Re-organize nursery, again. Put away stuff from last shower and put together diaper genie and other big stuff.
  • Organize craft corner
  • Turn 35
  • Make flowers for belt/bands for Clara's Corner
  • Get hair cut and colored
Now, what else do you have to do when you're about to have a baby?
